About the United Arab Emirates

The 'United Arab Emirates', also known as the UAE, is a union of seven emirates in the southeast of the Arabian Peninsula. On the coast of the Persian Gulf border the United Arab Emirates to Saudi Arabia and Oman.
The UAE consists of the Emirates of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman, Fujairah, Ra's al-Chaima, Sharjah and Umm al-Qaiwain.
The capital is Abu Dhabi and is, besides Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Al-Ain also an important economic and cultural center.
Known for one of the largest oil caves in the world, there is also a lot of historical and cultural discoveries.

From days gone by

Many archaeological discoveries have been discovered, for example, at Sila, which are already 7000 years old. Further historical excavations and finds suggest a settlement of the area already in the 4th millennium BC.
For a long time, pearl dowry was one of the most important sectors of industry here and lasted well into the 20th century. Not only the global economic crisis in 1929 but also the sale of cheaper cultured pearls from Japan led to the decline of this industry and the pearl industry in the Gulf.
